I joined PeopleSoft UK in 1996 as an Oracle database specialist on their support desk. I got to hear about all of the performance problems. Performance escalations quickly turned into performance tuning consultancy.
In 2000, I set up Go-Faster Consultancy Ltd. through which to provide specialist performance tuning consultancy for Oracle database systems in general and PeopleSoft ERP applications in particular.
The experiences I had with the combination of PeopleSoft and Oracle became the inspiration for my book, PeopleSoft for the Oracle DBA (Apress 2005, 2012). Many applications are maintained by separately siloed teams. The book aims to break down those walls but explaining PeopleTools behaviour to the DBA, and Oracle database behaviour to PeopleSoft administrators and developers.
After the book, I started to write blogs about PeopleSoft (blog.psftdba.com) and Oracle (blog.go-faster.co.uk).
In 2015, I joined the Accenture Enkitek Group, where I continued to provide performance consultancy. Critically, it has given me extensive experience of Engineered Systems, including Oracle's Autonomous cloud databases.
Since 2020, I am back to being an independent consultant and still providing PeopleSoft and Oracle performance consultancy. I also regularly post new content on the Go-Faster website.
I am an Oracle ACE Director. The ACE program was set up to recognise and reward contributions to the technology and application communities. I enjoy sharing the results of my researches into Oracle products in my blogs and presentations.
I can be contacted at info@go-faster.co.uk for any consulting enquiries, or even if you just want to talk through a problem.
